trauma-informed yoga for anxiety

9th January - 13th February 2023

Monday 8-9pm GMT (via Zoom)

Anxiety is a symptom. It is the language of the body, of the nervous system.

Our 6-week programme aims to ‘befriend’ the nervous system and help to build a sense of safety in the body. Each week, our 60-minute practice will be slow and gentle, using trauma-informed tools, to:

  • Practise arriving in the here and now, the present moment

  • Understand the nervous system and how it’s working for you (even when the opposite feels true)

  • Develop an awareness of your individual responses and survival strategies

  • Explore practices to regulate your nervous system and develop resilience

please note…

This is trauma-informed yoga rather than therapy. The focus will be on the body - building a sense of safety in the body through slow and gentle practices. There will be minimal ‘asana’ as you’d expect in a regular yoga class - pranayama, meditation and gentle movement will form the practice.

Each session will be include teaching, practice and self-reflection.
